When you look in the mirror, you should see eyes that feel comfortable and look like your own. Over time, natural changes in the delicate muscles around the eye can alter how your eyelids rest. You might notice your lower eyelid turning inwards, causing your eyelashes to rub against the surface of your eye. This condition, known as entropion, can lead to persistent watering, redness, and a gritty sensation that disrupts your daily life. For some, this is a natural part of ageing; for others, it might be related to previous inflammation or scarring.
Whatever your situation, my approach to care completely leaves surgical ego at the door. I believe that meaningful care is never about a doctor dictating what to fix. It is entirely about you. My first priority is to give you a safe space where you feel genuinely heard, validated, and understood. I want to find out exactly what is bothering you and what you would like improved.
As an Ophthalmologist and triple-fellowship trained Oculoplastic Surgeon, my clinical focus is entirely dedicated to the delicate balance of the eyes and face. When we sit down together, we will explore your unique eyelid structure, look at how the muscles are functioning, and discuss whether conservative measures or a gentle corrective surgery aligns with your personal comfort.
Using careful assessment, we will look at the possibilities together. We will openly discuss what can honestly and beautifully be achieved to restore your eye health, ensuring you feel completely confident before making any choices. We will only move forward when you feel entirely ready and fully supported.
"For me, it is really all about the patients, not about me or my ego. I want you to feel listened to and understood, so I can find out what is bothering you and what you would like improved."

Understanding Entropion
Entropion is a condition where your eyelid turns inward toward your eye. When this happens, your eyelashes and skin continuously rub against the sensitive cornea, causing irritation, watering, and sometimes mucous discharge. It most commonly occurs because the delicate muscles and tissues under the eyes tend to weaken as we age. Occasionally, it can also develop due to scarring from previous infections or injury. Leaving it untreated can lead to serious inflammation or damage to the surface of the eye, which is why addressing it is so important for your long-term eye health.
Conservative Management Options
If you are looking for temporary relief and are not ready for a surgical procedure, we have a few conservative options to explore. We can use specialised transparent tape to gently hold your eyelid in its correct position. Frequent use of lubricating eye drops or ointments can also help protect the cornea from irritation. In some cases, we might consider carefully placed injections into the lower eyelid muscle to stop it from turning inward. These methods are very helpful for managing symptoms, though they are temporary solutions and usually last up to six months.
The Surgical Correction
For a lasting solution, we can perform a highly precise, minor day case procedure under local anaesthetic. During this operation, I will gently tighten and reposition the affected eyelid tissues to restore their natural strength and resting position. This is often done using very fine stitches at the outer corner of the eyelid. The small incision is strategically placed to blend into your natural skin lines, meaning any resulting scar will become almost invisible over time. The primary goal is to immediately relieve the discomfort of the rubbing lashes and protect your eye moving forward.
The best way forward is simply to have an open conversation. Every patient experiences these symptoms differently, and the right choice depends on your specific eye health and what you want to achieve. For me, it is really all about the patients, not about me or my ego. I want you to feel completely listened to and understood, so I can find out exactly what is bothering you and what you would like improved.
