Exceptional Eyelid Surgery Background

Your Vision, Your Journey

When you look in the mirror, you should see an accurate reflection of how you feel inside. For many patients, enhancing the upper eyelid is about achieving a brighter, more open appearance while fully preserving their beautiful ethnic heritage. You might be considering double eyelid surgery because you lack a natural crease, or perhaps you have noticed heaviness and asymmetry that makes your eyes feel tired or less defined.

Whatever your situation, my approach to care completely leaves surgical ego at the door. I believe that meaningful enhancement is never about a doctor telling you what to fix. It is entirely about you. My first priority is to create a safe space where you feel genuinely heard, validated, and understood, so I can find out exactly what is bothering you and what you would most like improved.

As an Ophthalmologist and triple-fellowship trained Oculoplastic Surgeon, my clinical focus is entirely dedicated to the delicate balance of the eyes. When we sit down together, we will explore your unique facial structure, look at how your eyelids naturally rest, and discuss whether an incisional method or a gentle non-incisional (suture) approach aligns with your personal comfort.

Using high-resolution photography and mirrors, we will look at the possibilities together. We will openly discuss what can honestly and beautifully be achieved to maintain the harmony of your expressions, ensuring you feel completely confident before making any choices. We will only move forward when you feel entirely ready and fully supported.

"True care means putting my ego aside to listen to what is bothering you, so that together we can achieve the beautifully bright, natural look you desire."

Exploring Your Options
Together

The Incisional Technique
If your primary goal is to address thicker eyelid skin, excess fat pads, or pronounced asymmetry, a full-incision approach is often the most reliable method. This involves a highly precise, fine incision placed directly where your new crease will gracefully sit. It is incredibly effective for creating a beautifully defined, long-lasting double eyelid. We tailor the height and shape specifically to your anatomy, ensuring we preserve your ethnic identity. The resulting fine line is designed to fold naturally into your new crease, softening significantly over the months following your procedure.

The Partial-Incision Technique
If you are looking for a highly durable result but wish to minimise scarring, we can explore a partial-incision approach. By making a very short opening—typically just a few millimetres—we can gently address a small amount of excess fat and secure a lasting crease. It is a wonderful middle ground that offers robust structural support with a slightly faster healing time than the full-incision method.

The Non-Incisional (Suture) Technique
Yes, absolutely. For patients who have thinner eyelid skin and minimal excess fat, the non-incisional or suture method is an elegant and highly popular pathway.

We utilise tiny, discreet punctures along the planned crease rather than a continuous cut. Through this access, I use deep, internal micro-sutures to gently anchor the skin to the lifting muscle. Because no skin is removed, there is virtually no external scarring, and the recovery process tends to be very smooth and rapid. Most patients feel comfortable returning to their normal routines within just a few days, making it an excellent option for a soft, natural enhancement.

Medial Epicanthoplasty
Many patients who are considering double eyelid surgery also wish to gently open up the inner corners of their eyes, where an epicanthic fold often rests.

If you feel that this fold is pulling tightly or making your eyes appear smaller, we can carefully release the tension in this area. This subtle refinement allows the newly created eyelid crease to flow seamlessly, giving the eyes a brighter, more elongated appearance. I always approach this delicately, prioritising conservative changes that honour the natural harmony of your facial features. We can seamlessly combine this with either an incisional or non-incisional eyelid procedure.

The best way forward is simply to have an open conversation. Every eye shape tells a different story, and the right choice depends on your anatomy, your skin thickness, and—most importantly—what you feel is bothering you. My role is to listen to your goals without ego, and give you the clear information you need to make the right choice for your lifestyle.
