I diagnose and treat a wide variety of lumps and bumps around the eyes. This includes common benign conditions such as chalazion (meibomian cysts), skin tags, papillomas, xanthelasma, and moles. I also manage suspicious or changing lesions that require careful evaluation to rule out conditions like basal cell carcinoma.
Because the skin around your eyes is the thinnest on your body, any removal requires a highly specialised, delicate touch to protect the function of your eyelids and ensure the best possible aesthetic outcome.
Minimising Visible Scarring
As an Oculoplastic Surgeon, preserving your natural appearance is at the forefront of my mind. Whenever possible, incisions are carefully planned to follow the natural resting creases of your eyelids or facial lines.
I utilise micro-surgical instruments and ultra-fine sutures to close the area meticulously. While any surgical excision leaves a mark, these specialised techniques mean that scars typically heal beautifully, fading significantly over a few months until they are barely perceptible.
Prioritising Your Safety
In many cases, particularly if a lesion is new, growing, changing colour, or bleeding, I will recommend a biopsy. This simply means we send the tiny piece of removed tissue to a specialist laboratory for histological examination under a microscope.
This is a completely standard and safe practice that provides definitive answers. Knowing exactly what we are dealing with gives us both complete peace of mind and ensures that your onward care is based entirely on facts.
